DOT Awards Funding for Community Connection Projects

$3.33 Billion will go toward reconnecting minority urban communities

The Department of Transportation (DOT) awarded $3.33 billion in grants to reconnect neighborhoods separated by targeted infrastructure. In the past, highways and thoroughfares were often constructed without sufficient access to minority or low-income neighborhoods. The funding seeks to ease the challenges posed by disconnected infrastructure and improve commutes to schools, medical offices, and houses of worship.

“While the purpose of transportation is to connect, in too many communities past infrastructure decisions have served instead to divide,” said Secretary Pete Buttigieg. “Today we are proud to announce an unprecedented $3.3 billion to help 132 communities deliver better infrastructure that reconnects residents to jobs, health care, and other essentials.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Buttigieg as he oversees funding to support the reconnection of community transportation infrastructure.
  • For wisdom for the secretary and officials in the Transportation Department.
